Since Stanley Rabinowitz, the Henry Steele Commager Professor of Russian, Emeritus, died in January, the Amherst community has generated a veritable steppe’s worth of “Stanecdotes” about his classroom charisma, blunt charm, sustained kindness and support—plus his photographic memory.
